BLACK FEMINISM

Designed a publication and poster series exploring Black feminism, representation, and women’s rights through bold typography, layered imagery, and expressive color. The project focuses on creating a visual language that feels powerful, emotional, and direct while honoring the strength and complexity of Black feminist thought.

The challenge of this project was to communicate a complex and meaningful topic in a visually engaging way without losing its seriousness. I wanted the design to feel both personal and political, so instead of using a traditional informational layout, I focused on creating a bold visual system that could express emotion, urgency, and strength.

To solve this, I combined portrait photography, neon typography, textured image treatments, and layered graphic shapes. The strong contrast between the bright type and muted imagery creates visual tension, while the collage-like compositions reflect the layered experiences of Black women. The final series uses type, image, and color to turn Black feminism into a powerful design statement about representation, equality, and visibility.
